Copper, red nylon thread, beads

I used the old photos of me and my grandparents and sublimated them on copper sheets. Because my memory of my grandparents is a blur, I cut the copper sheets into irregular shapes and rebuild them like a collage. The red nylon thread connects the two corners as the chain, illustrating the blood relation connecting me and the passed-away families together. The red thread is a metaphor for Marriage in China, which in my opinion can be seen as a blood connection between families. That’s why my grandparents love me even though I feel unfamiliar with them.
